The advantage I have over other DJs — DJ Switch

Winner of the first and only edition of the Glo X-Factor singing reality show, Obianuju Catherine Udeh aka DJ Switch has said that instead of being threatened by other DJs in the country, she believes she has an advantage over them.

In a chat with Showtime, she said, ‘The beautiful thing is that I have an advantage a lot of women don’t have in the industry: I’m a performer, and I’m also a DJ.’

She spoke further, ‘We have a lot of DJs in the country, but none of them sings as well. We have DJs who have albums, but they’re not the ones singing on it; rather, they work with artistes for that. I don’t look at competition; I’m even happy that we have a lot of female DJs now. I get approached by a lot of guys who want me to teach them how to be DJs, and I wish ladies will come to me more. I’m unique because I turn tables and I sing as well. My name is Switch, and like I keep telling people, I can always switch my style. Not only do I play, I know how to hold a crowd; that’s something that makes me stand out.’

On why nothing much has been heard about her record deal with Sony Music after she emerged winner of Glo X-Factor, she said, ‘I also didn’t hear anything myself. I think it’s a matter that is way above me that I can’t really explain.’
